These golf balls are perfect for senior golfers

As your swing speed changes, so should your golf ball. Here are five options designed to help senior golfers perform at their best.

As we get older, our golf game evolves. Swing speeds tend to decrease, joints aren’t quite as flexible as they once were, and maximising distance and control becomes a bit more of a challenge.

For senior golfers then, the right golf ball can make all the difference in unlocking that extra bit of distance, speed or enhanced control around the greens.

Finding an option that suits your golf game can help to instil some much-needed consistency. Most of these models we have outlined do just that and are designed to perform at their best for those who operate with a slower swing speed.

There is a greater focus with these balls on delivering more accessible distance gains, straighter ball flights, and an overall reliable performance.

Bridgestone Tour B RXS

The Bridgestone Tour B RXS is a standout choice for seniors because of its compatibility with golfers with moderate swing speed and specifically, players swinging below 105mph.

It is a tour-level golf ball, but one that can perform in the hands of a golfer without a tour-level tempo. It provides performance that includes impressive greenside spin and control thanks to its urethane cover, which is a bonus for such an ultra-soft distance ball.

This really isn’t a ball for show. Despite its soft feel, golfers are still able to shape their shots and control the trajectory of their ball flight, promoting that extra bit of versatility that cheaper two-piece options can offer.

Callaway Supersoft

This is one of Callaway’s more popular golf balls and has been a real hit with senior golfers, and those with slower swing speeds.

The new Supersoft is designed for increased ball speed with exceptional soft feel, control, and spin from tee-to-green. Callaway has somehow engineered this to avoid the harshness that some non-urethane balls typically tend to fall victim to.

Senior golfers who prioritise forgiveness and straight-line distance over maximum greenside spin will likely enjoy the Supersoft. It is also one of the more affordable options on this list, making it ideal for golfers who play regularly and do not want premium-ball prices.

Titleist AVX

This is the most premium ball on the list. A commendable alternative to Titleist’s headline offering, the Pro V1, as it delivers the same tour-level performance but with a softer overall profile.

I must stress that this is a ball that is unlikely to promote any major increases in distances. But, saying that, the AVX does produce lower driver spin and a flatter trajectory, which can help senior players who struggle with ballooning drives and help to prevent a loss of distance when hitting into the wind.

It’s not the softest ball on the list, but it is noticeably softer than the tour-level equivalents, and specifically the Pro V1.

Srixon Soft Feel

A fair few tour players turn to Srixon for their golf ball, like major winners Shane Lowry and Hideki Matsuyama. Granted, not many chose the Soft Feel, but it does show Srixon has quite a pedigree in this department.

This may not be the fastest or the spiniest golf ball on the list, but it’s one of the most balanced and efficient options in its class and price range.

Srixon’s FastLayer Core, which starts soft in the centre and firms up toward the edges, mimics multi-layer performance in a simple two-piece design. Combine that with an aerodynamic dimple pattern, and you’ve got a ball that’s forgiving, long, and stable in flight.

Wilson Duo Soft

Choosing the right golf ball for you is all about what you prioritise from it. If softness is your main priority, then this is going to be hard to beat.

Despite not having a urethane cover the spin around the greens is still very good. Equally, it is also equipped with a low compression which allows golfers with slower swing speeds compress the ball more easily at impact, giving it that soft feel.

Overall, this is a ball engineered for exceptional feel and short-game control.
