What golf ball does Bryson DeChambeau use?
The popular American has always analysed his use of golf equipment to a greater depth than most other tour players.
Equally, his golf ball choice isn’t one simply made from a sponsorship deal; it is one made through testing and data.
Previously, Bryson DeChambeau used a Bridgestone ball for much of his early professional career. He won his first major trophy at Winged Foot in 2020 using a Bridgestone Tour B X.
Four years later, however, he made a switch to a more popular choice, a brand that is used by the majority of golfers on the PGA Tour.
What golf ball does Bryson DeChambeau use?
As of 2026, DeChambeau primarily uses the Titleist Pro V1x. However, the version he plays is often not the same as the one you will find in your local pro shop.
Instead, the LIV golfer uses a prototype, more specifically, a Titleist Pro V1x Custom Performance Option.
It is a ball that is designed to suit his unique swing characteristics. DeChambeau has a particularly high ball flight and spin rate that has helped him earn a reputation as being one of, if not, the biggest hitter in the sport.
Nicknamed ‘the scientist’, DeChambeau isn’t afraid to experiment with his ball choice. Over the past few seasons, he has switched between different versions of the Pro V1x and has tried out lower spin models such as the Titleist Left Dash.
He has previously spoken about his troubles finding a golf ball that matches his high demands. "What I really think needs to happen, being pretty transparent here, is just get a golf ball that flies a little straighter," the two-major champion explained last year.
So, what golf ball does Bryson DeChambeau use, and why does he use it?
Titleist are far and away the most popular ball brand on tour today. So, it is no surprise then that their premier range was in the bags of 70% of players last year.
That range is the Pro V series.
The latest iteration of the Titleist Pro V1x came out in 2025. It is built with a faster high gradient core, which helps to produce quicker ball speeds and, ultimately, more distance.
It is designed to spin more and launch higher than the previous models. Two things that complement the 32-year-old's game perfectly.
For such an explosive hitter, having a ball that promotes that power, as well as enhanced iron and wedge control is clearly crucial.
"It seems to be flying the most consistent for me,” he said. “A little bit lower flighting, a little bit more control with my half shots.”
The increase in spin, from the Pro V1 model, is partly due to the difference in the dimples between the two new golf balls. There are 388 tetrahedral dimples in the Pro V1, whereas the Pro V1x utilises 348.
The soft cast Urethane Elastomer Cover also helps to improve its greenside control capabilities. It delivers a soft and responsive feel to improve the performance with a higher lofted club in hand.
