What makes the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball so popular?

The Titleist Pro V1’s popularity across both professional tours and amateur golf can be attributed to many factors.

There’s plenty of detail packed into these little white spheres, which makes them suited to some of the best players on the planet.

Year on year, the Titleist Pro V1 model reappears and performs consistently at the top level of the professional game.

Part of that is pure loyalty and habit. It’s the go-to ball, isn’t it? The Pro V1 is an institution at this stage, and it is a golf ball that every player is familiar with, whether they are a beginner or a seasoned club player of generations.

But this is only because of the performance, a level of performance that allows players such as Scottie Scheffler, Adam Scott, Brian Harman, Gary Woodland, Bob MacIntyre, Viktor Hovland, Linn Grant and Harris English to commit fully to every shot, whether it’s off the tee, an approach to a tight pin, or a delicate chip.

The Pro V1 model is recommended for players who prefer a mid-trajectory ball flight, so not too high. The ball also provides low spin off the tee, which helps achieve greater distance with your driver. As well, the Pro V1 model also ensures high short game spin and a softer feel, which helps to control your chip shots around the green.

So if you like to fly the ball a bit lower, and want to gain distance off the tee, then this could be the model for you.

Titleist describe the model as the ‘greatest combination of speed, spin, and feel’. It has a unique dimple pattern, and the lower ball flight distinguishes it from the equally impressive Pro V1x model used by Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludvig Aberg, Cameron Young, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas and Tyrrell Hatton.

A softer gradient core produces the soft feel and a little less spin than the Pro V1x. It goes without saying that the performance of each ball can’t be underestimated, and the performance characteristics suit the best players, as well as weekend hackers like you and me.

The Pro V1 is designed to deliver total performance, and that combination of key performance characteristics. It is the soft cast urethane cover that instils the soft feel, which professionals and amateurs alike benefit from when faced with short shots around the green.

“The Pro V1 is versatile in all conditions; it flies consistently through the air in any type of weather,” is what Hovland says about the golf ball.

“The Pro V1 is a perfect ball. The launch, feel, sound, and just knowing the consistency of the spin with each club is massive,” says his Ryder Cup teammate MacIntyre.

As well as these models, Titleist has produced many other models that have proved extremely popular across the sport, such as the Pro V1 Left Dot, the AVX, Tour Soft, Velocity and TruFeel models.

At Mail Order Golf, you can get hold of a dozen Titleist Pro V1 Lake Balls for £28.99, and 24 balls for £52.49.
